AnatomyAnatomy : Review for USMLE Step 1 by Kurt E. Johnson (1998) edition: This latest edition of a book that was already very high yield. You can go through it in three days and feel good about knowing the anatomy that you will need on the exam. Be sure to really pay attention to CTs, MRIs, and the various cross sections. Hopefully, they got rid of some of the typos that were in the older edition.
Gross Anatomy (Board Review Series) by Kyung Won, Ph.D. Chung. I did not use this one, and I hear it is not well liked. Let me know if you feel otherwise. Price Fetch Microbiology and Immunology

If anyone has feedback, on the latter two let me know with the suggestion form below. Pharmacology : Examination & Board Review (Lange Medical Book) by B.G. Katzung, A.J. Trevor
Clinical Pharmacology Made Ridiculously Simple by Jim Olsen (1997) Price Fetch Pharmcards : Review Cards For Medical Students by Johannsen, Eric C. Medical Pharmfile Cards by Medfiles Publishing - Flash card for pharmacology -10% OFF!! Mosby's Review Cards : Nursing Pharmacology by Paulette Rollant, Karen Hill. I don't know anything about this one but people have been asking for some pharm. flash cards. I am anxious to hear from anyone who has used these cards. PhysiologyThe Constanzo book was extremely helpful for mastering the basics of physiology. Several students found it useful for both first and second year classes. The second book was recommended by a visitor to this site.
Physiology
Board Review Series by L. Constanzo - * Concepts in Physiology : A Review for the USMLE Step 1 (USMLE Concepts Series) There are two options here. Most of us used High Yield Neuroanatomy, but many also liked Clinical Neuroanatomy Made Ridiculously Simple. The latter presents the material in a more simplistic almost silly manner, but it is probably adequate for the boards. In fact it was great for my neurology rotation. High Yield Neuroanatomy by James D. Fix Price Fetch Clinical Neuroanatomy Made Ridiculously Simple by Stephen Goldberg Price Fetch Behavioral ScienceBehavioral Science (Board Review Series) by Barbara Fadem. Don't underestimate this topic on the exam. Quite a few "touchy/feely" questions showed up on the exam. High-Yield Behavioral Science by Fadem, Barbara : This text gets the highest ranking by the 1999 edition of First Aid for the USMLE Step 1. |
