Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - It is not that simple.
As a textbook of physical exam, this book really needs more and more and more drawings if the author does not have appropriate pictures or the publisher does not want to spend more money to print them. Descriptions are oversimplified, too. Do not rely too much on nonspecific or insensitive physical findings, it would be quite dangerous.

It is hard to read.

I bought this because my Bates is almost 20 years old. I decided try another one from Mosby.

If I still live in the USA, I would sell this.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Berg Text
The book has a very clear format. It goes through the physical examination step by step (with lots of pictures) letting you know what the normal findings should be, and then gives you a differential for the abnormal. Gives senstivity and specificity of some tests and also gives a paragraph on every disease you could find with the appropriate work-up and treatment. Also light and portable. A great buy.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Advanced Physical Diagnosis by Dale Berg-gotta have it!
This is an amazing book! As a fourth year medical student I felt my physical exam skills could use some help before I began internship, so I bought this book. It is well-written with good examples and a very easy to follow format. It was chock full of good diagnostic advice and useful information. I really feel this is a must have for any medical student, resident or medical provider. I found it much more useful than Bates (my school's standard text)and definately easier to use!
