![]() - Not BadThis product is not bad if you use it for its intended purpose. This book will not help you learn German. That is not what you should expect from this product. The tests contained within did offer some good insight into what to expect when taking the German CLEP. There are many tests and answer sheets that help you familiarize yourself with the structure of the actual tests. Some of the drawbacks are that certain areas of the book are poorly put together and grammatically incorrect. The audio disc also has some problems with the volume being too low. Other than that, it's a pretty good product. I would recommend to anybody that has no prior experience with the German CLEP. Rating: - I can't believe this can be sold!I am glad I got asked to do this review. I grew up bi-lingual - English/German. I got this book, because I need to Clep out of some of the german classes for my master's program. It is supposed to help you with grammar and correct usage of german... There are many, many, many spelling and even grammatical mistakes in the sample tests, in the reviews... Furthermore the CD's often don't match up with the book!! Incredible!! The quality of the CD's are often so bad, you can't understand - amateurish at best!! DON'T BUY THIS BOOK!!! Rating: - Do you know computers?Be careful with this one. I think the book is good and the CD needs to have a slight modification before it works. When you get it take it to a computer and add <.wmv> to the file names and burn it again as an audio CD then it should work. I bought it because another reviewer said it covers material that shows up in the test. I didn't take the test yet so I don't know. Rating: - Low quality Audio CD, InaccuracyI bought this book to prepare for the German CLEP Test. I wanted to see what the exam looks like. I sure hope the exam is more accurate than this book is. It is full of mistakes (answer key is not always correct) and some of the questions are not even in the order of the book (see other review). I am a disappointed. I'd think a published book would undergo serious proofreading. It does not seem to be the case. Also the quality of the audio CD is really low, I had to crank out the volume to hear what was on the CD. Rating: - No frills book, but it workedI used this book to test my German skills, not to learn German. I was scoring around 90% on the tests in the book. I scored high enough in the actual CLEP exam to achieve credit for four semesters German. There were a few problems (multiple choice questions not in the same order as the verbal questions), but the tests were very similar to the actual CLEP sections. It allowed me to evaluate my knowledge. |
