![]() - Happy and satisfiedThank you very much. The book is a great source. Delivered on time. Rating: - A must have for beginning Nursing StudentsGood book. Give you good advice and study tips for your test. It also have practice test with the same material you talk about in class Rating: - Awesome!i heard about this book and i ordered it. Thesesdays i am reading this one and getting figure out how to handle the nursing school wisely. to prepare nursing school, you gotta read this one first! my recommendation! Rating: - Good Ideai feel this book is helping me alot.. i failed my first semester off nursing .. re took the course and passed.. now im using this book as a refresher so when i go into the next semester i feel a little more prepared. :) Rating: - It can't hurtIf you are NOT yet a nursing student then it can't hurt to check this book out for some insight into what nursing tests MAY be like. This book covers topics such as developing a positive mental attitude, managing stress, critical thinking definitions, time management, study techniques, test taking techniques, how to answer multiple choice questions and the nursing process. There are several "sample" tests for you to practice.A student that really suffers from test anxiety may find this book helpful for test taking tips and encouragement. However to the person that is already a strong student you may not get as much help from the book. This book was highly recommended as an "optional" text (by the tutoring department)for my nursing program so I did buy it (used). It is interesting but I am hesitant to say its helpful. As another reviewer mentioned, once you start nursing school forget about reading this book altogether and just focus on your school reading. I have done well so far in school (nursing 101) and it was simply from hours of studying and reading the assigned material NOT figuring out secret test taking techniques. Also, unless the professor that is writing the nursing exam reads, agrees, and follows the test taking principles of this book you may be out of luck. In some ways this book makes multiple choice questions very complicated, talking about stems with a positive or negative polarity, clang associations, and identifying "clues" in the stem. I reviewed this book before starting my first semester and was getting really worried about the "complexities" of nursing multiple choice questions. Yes the test questions can be tricky and often you will have narrowed the answers from 4 down to 2 but in the end only understanding the material will help you pick your answer. This book will not teach you how to think critically. In summary, it's not a bad book just not the answer to "passing" nursing school. I rated it 4 stars because it is organized, interesting, and gives lots of practice problems to give you a feel for nursing tests. However, if you are going to purchase this book buy and read it BEFORE you ever set foot in the classroom. I would only purchase this book at a discount price or try to perhaps check it out of the library. |
