Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - this and and usmleworld are all you need!
I took less than a week to study for Step 2 with this book and USMLEworld and was pleased with the 247 that resulted (after a long hiatus from clinics, no less). This book will not teach you what you haven't learned (it ain't a textbook!), but it will remind you in a very succinct, bulleted-fashion way everything that you learned in medical school (or didn't learn, as I was sadly reminded when reviewing all glomerular nephropathy microscopy stuff my brain seems to repel like teflon). As a previous reviewer said, this little book IS the First Aid for Step 2. The vignettes are very helpful, though most are easier and more straightforward than those you'll get on the actual boards. It also presents a lot of the info in multiple places and in multiple ways, which I also find helpful. Of course, questions (either Qbank or USMLEworld) are an absolutely essential adjunct, and really help to drive home concepts. If you go over this book a couple times before the boards, do 50ish questions a day, and look up everything you don't understand (i.e., don't gloss over stuff or memorize it in a superficial way...eg, don't just memorize the little bullet that informs you not to diurese someone with right-sided heart failure or not to give pts with Wolff-Parkinson-White beta blockers...if you don't understand why this is the case, LOOK IT UP!) you'll do great (though, admittedly, it probably won't feel like it test day!)...

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Overall, an extremely concise USMLE Step 2 review
Clearly, there is universal praise for this product... and rightly so. It's comprehensive, concise, and overall quite accurate.

I'm not trying to be overly critical by giving it four stars, but I do have a few minor gripes.

First of all, my biggest beef is that there are some inaccuracies in this book. Of course, I expect some mistakes in any book, but the inaccuracies are a little difficult to spot when the answers are given as unqualified truths. Unlike other USMLE review resources, there are no references given that would help the student check facts.

In addition, there are a fair number of poor style points that I would comment on. There are a lot of abbreviations that are actually quite distracting (e.g. "H/o", "W/u"). Also, many brand-name medications are used rather than the generic names that appear on the actual exam.

Finally, as you might expect, some of the clues are "guess what I'm thinking"-type questions. Albeit there are good teaching points in each of these clues, but this style does detract from learning.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent material
Very concise and useful material for test preparation. I have some USMLE step 2 books and really feel very comfortable with this one, and I don't need to make any notes because everything is in there.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great book if used early as a suplemental study material
This is a great suplemental study material especially if used early . The price is also affordable.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This is the "First Aid" for Step 2.....
First thing first. I scored a 247 on Step 1. As many of you know that have taken the exam. The key is to know what to study for the exam since there is an infinite amount of information. Once you find the "tested" information you have to sit down and MEMORIZE. That is the key to these USMLE exams. For those that have trouble memorizing the necessary information, the best thing to do is to "do questions" so that way you can remember the key concepts. For Step 1 all you really need is First Aid for Step 1, Goljan audio, and Kaplan QBank + Qbook. That's it....

Now for Step 2 it is much different. First Aid is not as high yield as it is for Step 1. Even if you had First Aid for Step 2 in the exam room with unlimited time there will be information that is NOT IN THE BOOK. First Aid lives off of its Step 1 reputation.

For Step 2, I scored a 241. Which isn't spectacular BUT I studied for the exam during my interview season in January. I studied for 3 weeks. I memorized this book and did USMLE World questions. That is all you need. Most of the high yield information that is TESTED is not found in First Aid. Use your time wisely. My advice is to memorize this book, Step 2 Secrets, and do ALL of the questions (and read every answer explanation) in USMLE World. Keep in mind though there will still be questions that you have never seen but these will be fewer and far between if you use the "right" resources. Good Luck.
