Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - impressive biophysics
From the biophysics standpoint, the book demonstrates the progress since the 70s, when the techniques depicted started coming into use. The book is printed in high quality glossy paper, that brings out the detailed, high resolution images. From these, you can see sub-millimeter resolution in the MRI and CT scans.

Also impressive is the contrast. Early NMR/MRI images often had miserable "fuzziness" that hampered practical usage. Whereas the book's photos reveal gray scaling that brings out considerable structures. The state of the art also seems to include ways to use the dynamic range of gray scaling (perhaps in a non-linear mapping?) that improves over what was once crudely done.

One thing lacking is colour images. Possibly because there is no current clinical need for these?
