![]() - Poor picture qualityI rarely write negative reviews, but this camera has driven my wife and me nuts. We have two young daughters, so we wanted to have a reliable, easy-to-use camera to follow them as they grow up. This camera is AWFUL! The picture quality is horrendous -- we have to take four or five shots just to get one that is somewhat clear. It often sticks so that you can't take the picture immediately. We called Nikon and they claimed it was our memory drive. We changed drives, and it still takes poor pictures. Enough! We are getting a different camera. Rating: - Mediocre cameraThis is my first digital camera and overall it's not very impressive. I like that it was relatively inexpensive(paid $97.87), has a large display, and has features that are easy to use. The batteries seem to last a reasonable amount of time (I use 2 AA rechargeables). However, I expected a better quality camera from Nikon and if I had to do over I would try to find one with less annoyances. They are: (-) Blurry pics- It works fine outdoors on a sunny day, but indoor pictures are touchy. I find the "smile" setting to be the best for indoor/outdoor and dark lighting. Auto mode is terrible. (-)Lens error- Not the most durable camera. Dropped it once on carpet and the lens jammed. It still works (for now), but it takes a while for the lens to open and makes a lot of clicking noises. Probably not a good buy if you are the slightest bit clumsy. Amazon sells cases for $6 Premium Digital Camera Zipper Eva Pouch Carrying Case - 10 Color Available for Nikon Coolpix L19, L20, S220, S230, S620, S630, S710, S610c, S610, S560, S60, S600, S550, S520, S210, S52c, S52, S700, S510, S200, S51c, S51, S50c, S500, L18, L15, L12, L11, L10 (-)SD card slot placement- The SD card slot is in with the batteries, so if you want to take out the SD card the batteries fall out too. (-)Delay- I've never had an expensive camera and it seems that all cheap ones have a few second delay. Not good for action shots. Rating: - Another One Bites the DustThis is the second digital camera I have bought through Amazon and the second one to break after a few months. This one was in a soft sleeve in my coat pocket. I brought it out to take a picture of my kids and the screen was ruined, completely useless. Prior to breaking, I wasn't all that thrilled with the camera. There is a delay in the shooting which leads it to the camera constantly asking "did someone blink?" Why yes, because little kids can't hold still and smile for very long. I didn't find this all that easy to use. So, I've been through a Cannon and now this Nikon. Both broke. However, I need a camera to record my children's lives. These digital cameras are quickly becoming very expensive disposables. Rating: - camera was defective & it cost $18.45 to return it.I was looking for a simple digital camera for my mother who has had a stroke and read reviews of this Nikon that said it was simple to use. When I got the camera and tested it, the LCD display was so grainy I could hardly see anything, the zoom was sticky, and the auto focus was not working. I have two Nikons that I love so was so disapointed. I got free shipping so to return it, I had to pay the original shipping of $9 plus another $9.45 to send it back. I probably will not buy anything else from Amazon because of this extra expense. Rating: - A very good camera for the moneyI have a SLR digital but it's too bulky to travel with often. I bought the Coolpix as it fits into my laptop bag and it's right at my fingertips. It's easy to use, although it's worth taking the time to study the user guide carefully. Uploading pictures to the PC is easy. All in all, a very good buy. |
